LG Heat Pump Dryer Malaysia: 9kg Buying Guide
Rainy afternoons and a crowded drying rack can make laundry difficult to plan. Here is how to assess LG's 9kg heat pump dryer, from load size to installation and everyday care.

An LG heat pump dryer is worth considering when clothes regularly wait on a rack for space or dry weather. For a Malaysian condo, the practical question is whether it solves enough of your weekly drying problem to justify another appliance.
The LG VD-H9066WSR is a standalone dryer with a maximum 9kg drying capacity. It belongs on your shortlist if you already have a washer and want to add machine drying without replacing the whole laundry setup.
What the 9kg LG dryer offers
LG lists DUAL Inverter HeatPump technology, Sensor Dry, an Auto Cleaning Condenser and a dual filter for this model. These are separate features: an automatically cleaned condenser does not remove your responsibility to look after the lint filter.
| Item | LG VD-H9066WSR |
|---|---|
| Maximum drying capacity | 9kg |
| Product width | 600mm |
| Product height | 850mm |
| Product depth | 660mm |
| Depth with door open 90 degrees | 1115mm |
| Connected functions | LG ThinQ, cycle monitoring and Smart Diagnosis |
These measurements and features come from the official LG Malaysia specification. They describe the appliance, rather than the complete installation space.
What heat pump drying changes
A heat pump dryer recirculates heated air through a system that removes moisture from the load. It collects that moisture rather than relying on an exhaust duct to send damp air outdoors.
That makes it a useful option to discuss when your laundry area has no suitable external duct route. You still need to confirm the model's ventilation clearances, power supply and water collection or drainage arrangement with the installer.
Choose programmes according to the fabric label. A dryer feature name does not make every garment suitable for tumble drying.
Plan the loads you will actually dry
Write down what stays on the drying rack longest. Towels, everyday cotton clothing and bedsheets may have different programme requirements, so avoid treating them as one interchangeable load.
A 9kg drying rating also needs to be matched to your washer. If you wash more than the dryer can accept, plan to split the load or air dry some pieces. The applicable programme limit may be lower than the headline capacity.
Our LG washing machine capacity guide explains how washing and drying ratings work together.
Check the laundry area beyond cabinet depth
Measure the space with the dryer door open, including where you will stand with a basket. Check whether the door would block a bathroom entrance or collide with a cupboard.
If you want to stack the dryer above a washer, ask LG to confirm that the exact pair and stacking accessory are approved. A similar width does not establish compatibility.
For side-by-side installation, account for access to both machines. For either layout, send the installer photos showing the water points, drain, socket and surrounding cabinetry. The condo installation checklist covers the measurements to collect.
Compare running costs using your own routine
Avoid choosing from a fixed claim about electricity cost per load. Programme choice, load size, starting moisture and the dryness target can change consumption.
A useful comparison asks how often you would run the dryer each week and what alternative you use today. Include subscription payments, electricity and any quoted service costs in the same calculation.
If you already wash at home but take towels or bedding elsewhere for drying, record those trips and payments for a month. That gives you a personal baseline for deciding whether a home dryer is worthwhile.
Keep routine care manageable
Ask for a demonstration of lint-filter care, water handling and the model's cleaning programmes at handover. Keep the supplied manual accessible rather than relying on instructions for a different dryer.
Choose a location where you can reach the filter and perform routine care comfortably. A layout that saves a little floor space can become frustrating if a cabinet door blocks everyday access.
Frequently asked questions
Can I put every fabric in the dryer?
Check each garment's care label. Select an appropriate programme and keep unsuitable pieces out of the load.
Does the automatic condenser mean there is no cleaning?
No. Condenser cleaning and lint-filter maintenance are different tasks. Follow the manual for the model.
Should I choose a standalone dryer or WashTower?
A standalone dryer lets you assess adding to your existing washer. A WashTower is worth comparing when replacing both appliances. Read our WashTower versus combo guide for the different layouts.
