LG subscription vs outright purchase: compare the full cost

Monthly subscription and outright purchase answer different budgeting needs. To compare them fairly, start with the exact model and care arrangement, then look beyond the first monthly price. A useful comparison puts the payment schedule, included services and contract obligations on the same page.

Add every stage of the subscription

For a flat-rate plan, multiply the monthly payment by the number of months. If an offer has an introductory period, calculate that period separately and add the later payments. For example, a hypothetical plan at RM30 for 12 months and RM100 for the next 72 months totals RM7,560 in scheduled payments. This example explains the calculation; it is not an advertised product offer.

Any upfront payment or separately charged installation needs to be added. Ask how taxes, delivery, non-standard installation and relocation are treated. The payment total is useful, but it is only complete when the quotation identifies other charges.

Read what “saving” is compared with

Build a separate outright-purchase total

Start with the purchase price for the exact variant. Then ask which warranty and care are included and what you may need to pay for later. Compare both choices over the same period of expected use. Avoid inventing future filter or repair costs: request current information and make uncertain amounts explicit in your comparison.

Review flexibility before committing

Consider whether you expect to move home, change household size or replace the appliance during the term. Read the cancellation, transfer, relocation and end-of-term conditions. Do not assume ownership transfers automatically or that all service continues after the last payment; rely on the contract for your package.

A simple comparison sheet can have five rows: amount due now, monthly schedule, total planned payments, included care and exit conditions. Complete it for each shortlisted option before deciding.
